Royalton Riviera Wedding: The Most Unforgettable Night in Cancun

If you are searching for an honest Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun wedding review from a real couple, you have come to the right place. Marissa and Raph had a vision from the very beginning: tropical glam, barefoot fun, coronas in hand, and 108 of their favorite people celebrating alongside them from all corners of the world. Guests flew in from Europe and Asia to be there. Consequently, what they needed was a resort that could handle a large, lively, internationally-traveling group without missing a beat. That is exactly what Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun delivered.

On May 25, 2025, Marissa and Raph said “I do” on the beach at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun. Furthermore, their wedding was not just one day. It was a full weekend celebration that included a beach BBQ welcome dinner, a barefoot beach ceremony complete with a beer boy instead of a ring boy, and a rooftop reception on the Sky Terrace with views that took everyone’s breath away. Keep reading for the full inside look at their Royalton Riviera wedding.

Why Marissa & Raph Chose Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun

Marissa wanted a modern resort with great food, a beautiful beach, and enough energy to keep a group of serious party people happy for an entire week. Above all, she wanted something that felt like tropical glam without being stuffy. As a destination wedding specialist who personally site visited Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun, I knew immediately it was the right fit. The resort strikes a rare balance between family-friendly and fun-forward, with a waterpark, late-night options, and multiple wedding venues that can accommodate groups of all sizes.

Furthermore, Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is one of the few resorts that can comfortably handle a destination wedding for 100 guests without the group feeling like they are competing with the rest of the resort for space. What Makes Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun Stand Out for Weddings

Having personally visited this resort, here is what I love about it for destination weddings:

  • Multiple wedding venues: The beach accommodates up to 200 guests for a ceremony, the Sky Terrace offers panoramic ocean views with a $1,500 upgrade fee for the bar area, and the Grand Cenote ballroom handles up to 1,000 guests for larger receptions.
  • The Sky Terrace: This elevated rooftop venue is one of the most spectacular wedding spaces in the Riviera Maya. With floor-to-ceiling glass barriers, panoramic Caribbean views, and a fully reflective dance floor, it is an absolutely unforgettable reception space. Note that it is accessible by stairs only.
  • Late night options: La Cave transitions into a disco at 11pm and stays open until 1am, making it the perfect seamless after-party venue.
  • Family-friendly without sacrificing fun: The resort features a full waterpark included with every stay, a kids club open from 8am to 8pm with three floors of activities, and a babysitting service at $20 per child. Couples with young guests in their group can rest easy.
  • Diamond Club: Upgraded guests enjoy exclusive Diamond Club amenities including a private restaurant, lazy river access, and a complimentary hydrotherapy session per stay.
  • No reservations required: All restaurants operate on a walk-in basis with no advance reservations needed, and the 24-hour cafe means guests are never without food options at any hour.
  • Two weddings per day: The resort hosts a maximum of two weddings per day, ensuring your event receives the attention and staffing it deserves.

Marissa & Raph’s Royalton Riviera Wedding Weekend

The Night Before: Beach BBQ Welcome Dinner

The wedding weekend kicked off with a casual beach BBQ welcome dinner the evening before the wedding. It set the tone perfectly for everything that followed. Relaxed, fun, and surrounded by the sounds of the Caribbean. Guests from across the world got to meet, relax, and celebrate together before the big day.

The Wedding Ceremony: Beer Boy and All

The ceremony took place on the beach on May 25, 2025, and it was everything Marissa and Raph had envisioned. Guests dressed in summer dresses and linen pants, took their seats in bamboo rattan chairs lining the sandy aisle, and waited for one of the most talked-about processional moments of the year.

Instead of a traditional ring bearer, Marissa and Raph had a beer boy and shot girl. A guest dressed in a vest filled with cold beers and a tray of tequila, walking down the aisle and passing them out to guests before the ceremony began. The crowd erupted. It was the perfect introduction to the kind of wedding this was going to be. Fun, personal, and completely them.

Raph wore a stunning forest green suit that popped beautifully against the white sand and turquoise Caribbean Sea. Marissa arrived in a white lace gown with a long cathedral veil and a tropical white bouquet featuring monstera leaves. When they shared their first kiss, 108 guests threw their hands in the air. The photo captures it all perfectly. In fact, it is one of the most joyful wedding ceremony photos I have ever seen.

The Sky Terrace Reception: Where the Magic Happened

After the ceremony, guests moved to the Sky Terrace for the cocktail hour and reception. The transformation from beach ceremony to rooftop celebration was seamless. The Sky Terrace at Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is genuinely one of the most spectacular wedding reception venues I have come across. Floor-to-ceiling glass barriers reveal panoramic views of the Caribbean in every direction. A fully reflective mirror dance floor makes the entire space feel like it is floating above the ocean.

Marissa and Raph’s sweetheart table was flanked by two dramatic floral installations of white garden roses, eucalyptus, and golden pampas grass, set against a natural wood farm table and warm rattan lanterns. The smoked green glass goblets added a moody, sophisticated touch that elevated the tropical glam vibe perfectly.

When asked what one extra she was glad she splurged on, Marissa did not hesitate: the extra hour of DJ and dancing time. It was absolutely worth it. Her favorite memory from the entire day was dancing all night with their favorite people. Three words to describe her wedding? Fun, beautiful, and smooth.

“In addition to detailed resort overviews and knowledge, Megan and team were also available to field and help manage our guests’ questions, allowing us to focus on pulling together the details of the day. The time back was amazing!” — Marissa

Planning a Royalton Riviera Wedding for International Guests

One of the most impressive things about Marissa and Raph’s wedding was the sheer diversity of their guest list. With 108 attendees traveling from the United States, Europe, and Asia, coordinating travel logistics for this group was no small feat. Consequently, having a single point of contact for every single guest was not just helpful. It was essential.

At Bridie Travel, I handled all guest bookings, airport transfers, travel questions, and payment coordination from start to finish. As a result, Marissa and Raph never had to answer a guest question about room rates, flight logistics, or resort details. They got to focus entirely on the fun parts of planning their dream wedding.
