You’ve invested time and money into planning the perfect destination wedding at your favorite resort. If you want someone to capture every moment of the big day, you need a destination wedding videographer! While this is a vendor many couples overlook, having a high-quality film of your day will ensure you never forget exactly how everything looked or any special memories shared with loved ones. As a travel specialist, I always advise couples to book a videographer. This guide will cover why you should book this vendor, my most recommended destination wedding videographer, and more!
Why You Should Book a Destination Wedding Videographer
There are many reasons to book a destination wedding videographer, but preserving the memories of your big day is the top one. Your videographer will capture the highlights of your event and edit them into a meaningful keepsake you can watch on anniversaries, share with family members, and show your future children if you plan to start a family. Moreover, you can share it on your social media so those who couldn’t attend can get a glimpse into the day!
Still, many couples question why they should book a videographer for their destination wedding if they’ve already booked a photographer. The reason for this is twofold. First, a videographer can capture candid moments throughout the event, not just in a single frame but on tape! You’ll witness moments you may have missed while there, making your keepsake film even more special. Second, a destination wedding videographer’s services aren’t limited to your wedding day. If you’d like, you can hire them to capture the entire weekend, from the arrivals and welcome dinner to the morning-after brunch and sendoff.
Will My All-Inclusive Resort Provide a Videographer?
All all-inclusive resorts have at least one in-house photographer, but not all have a videographer. It depends on the size of the resort and the photography company they employ. However, even if your resort has an in-house videographer, it doesn’t automatically mean you should hire them. Look over their work first, using their website and social media. You can even email them and ask for samples of their past work! If you like their style, I recommend hiring them as it is easier (and often cheaper) to go through your resort than an outside hire.
If you don’t like the style of your resort’s in-house videographer, there’s no need to worry. You can hire the videographer of your choosing! However, note that you may have to pay a non-contracted vendor fee of anywhere from $500 to $1,000. You can get around this if your videographer is willing to stay at the resort for at least three nights.
If you need to make an outside hire for your destination wedding videographer, I can’t recommend Amma Love Stories more highly! Cancún and Riviera Maya are their home base, but they’re available worldwide. I got to work with them when they provided videography for this gorgeous outdoor wedding at Dreams Jade Resort & Spa. It was such a pleasure to watch them work and see the beautiful highlight film they made!
Must-Have Add-Ons for Destination Wedding Videography
Drone footage is a must-have for a destination wedding film that truly shines! Whether your venue is tucked in the lush jungle or overlooking a white-sand beach, the drone will capture the essence of your event by showcasing the beautiful surroundings in your chosen destination. Moreover, as previously mentioned, I recommend hiring your videographer for the entire weekend. That way, your highlight video won’t just showcase your big day but all the other celebratory events and special moments surrounding it! You’ll have a keepsake of the entire experience to watch and reminisce on whenever you like.
If you’ve been on the fence about booking a destination wedding videographer, I hope this guide has been helpful! I guarantee you won’t regret investing in this vendor’s unique services.
