If you’re considering getting hitched in the Caribbean, there are a variety of locations to suit your unique taste! Plenty of couples decide to get married on the beach (for obvious reasons!), but if that’s not your style, don’t worry. Whether the Old World charm of a 16th-century Mediterranean-style village draws you, or lush mountain views, there’s something for everyone here. As a destination wedding planner, I love exploring the best options for my clients, and am always on the lookout for the best places to say I Do. And time after time, the Caribbean continues to be one of the best places in the world for a destination affair. Keep scrolling for my top three favorite destination wedding locations in the Caribbean!
3 Caribbean Destination Wedding Locations
Playa Mujeres, Mexico
This location is the epitome of the classic Caribbean destination wedding. Located 40 minutes north of the Cancun hotel zone, it’s ideal for the couple who craves the beauty of Cancun without the hustle and bustle. You can say “I do” standing on a white sand beach with the love of your life! Plus, seaweed is less likely to wash up on the shore here, ensuring your portraits will be pristine. I also love this area for destination weddings since it gives guests the best of both worlds: a bustling city and historic finds, all within an hour drive! History buffs will love exploring the Mayan site of El Meco, and city dwellers will love an afternoon in downtown Cancun.
Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres is relatively newly developed resort, and located within a gated community. So, you can rest assured knowing your visit here will deliver when it comes to luxury. It’s hard to go wrong with sparkling sands, crystal-clear water, and up-to-date architecture! One of the most popular spots for a ceremony is the Sky Gazebo. This elevated space overlooks the ocean, providing a stunning backdrop for your vows.

Altos De Chavón
There’s no need to travel to Europe when this unique experience awaits you just a short flight away in the Dominican Republic! Altos de Chavón is a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village perched high above the Chavón River. It was built for The Godfather Part III and is now the premier wedding venue in the Caribbean! This place is perfect for a couple looking for a non-beach wedding, and love the feeling of being in a lush forest.
Located within Casa de Campo Resort in La Romana, this location is perfect for a couple looking for something a little off the beaten track (that isn’t on the beach). There are multiple wedding venues to choose from, including a traditional chapel—and they each overlook the river!
To get married here, note that a couple and their guests must lodge at the resort for at least three nights. Non-guests are not permitted, but don’t worry, as your travel advisor, I can make sure all of your guests have a room on-site!
Jamaica
The lush mountains of Jamaica are the perfect setting for the adventurous couple. While there, you can enjoy ziplining, mountain bobsledding, and hiking Dunn’s River Falls—not to mention taking in the gorgeous sunsets in Negril! Plus, there are a host of incredible resorts to accommodate all the friends and family you wish to invite.
Jamaica’s three primary touristed areas are Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios. While Montego Bay is just a 30-minute drive from the airport, Negril and Ocho Rios are a bit farther at 90 minutes. Both Montego Bay and Ocho Rios feature lush greenery and mountain views for the couple who prefers to stay off the beach. But for those who love to live it up in the surf and sand, Negril is the ideal destination, featuring the iconic seven-mile beach. It’s all down to the experience you want to have!
These destination wedding locations are each magical, and we hope you’ve found one that speaks to you! We would love to help you find the perfect destination for your wedding in the Caribbean. To learn more about the Bridie Travel experience, get in touch today!
